My husband Mark. Entrepreneuring Engineer by day. Mixologist by night. He fancies a scotch many a day post-office. But when I am lucky, he comes home in a mixing mood. And then he creates this.

The Sommer Smash

Ingredients:

6-8 kumquats

2 ounces Hendricks Gin

2 ounces Juniper Berry Dry Soda (P.S. These are our family’s favorite sodas for both festive kid friendly mocktails and adult versions such as this.)

1/2 ounce simple syrup

Directions:

Muddle kumquats with gin in a mixing glass.

Add simple syrup.

Add ice and shake vigorously.

Double (fine) strain over ice (single large cube is best) into serving glass.

Top with Dry Soda.

Place kumquat on glass and add sprig of rosemary for garnish.
